Here’s a truly funny oddity of pop culture we are sure you didn’t need to know but now you do: Pluto, the bubbly and loyal dog in Walt Disney’s world of animated classics, is actually viewed as a cat by Chinese audiences. Odd as it may seem, the confusion supposedly arose because of translation issues, and when the Chinese viewers first saw Pluto along with Mickey Mouse, they mistook the pooch for a feline. This amusing misunderstanding from the 1930s still stands strong today, and a large number of people in China continue to call Pluto a cat, despite the popular character’s doggy attributes.
